Background

Piccolo, also referred to as Aczonin, is a large protein which consists of an N-terminal Zn2+ finger, several piccolo-bassoon homology domains and C-terminal PDZ and C2 domains. In general it is found together with bassoon, a related huge multi-domain protein of the CAZ (cytoskeletal matric assembled at active zones). Piccolo is a scaffolding protein for proteins involved in endo- and exocytosis of synaptic vesicles. Piccolo has also been shown to interfere with clathrin medicated endocytosis by binding to the F-actin and dynamin binding protein Abp1.

Recombinant Protein
Piccolo Antibody was produced in mice by repeated immunizations raised against a full length protein.
Anti-Piccolo Antibody was purified by Protein G chromatography. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with Piccolo from human, mouse, rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. No cross-reactivity to Bassoon. Cross-reactivity with Piccolo from other sources has not been determined. Neuroscience research.

Application Details

IF, WB
Anti-Piccolo Antibody is tested for use in WB, ICC/IF, and ELISA. Expect a band ~550kDa in specific lysate or tissue samples. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user.
