Description
Background
SMYD3 (SET and MYND domain containing 3) is a histone methyltransferase that plays a role in transcriptional regulation as a member of an RNA polymerase complex. The introduction of SMYD3 enhanced cell growth and the histone methyltransferase activity of SMYD3 involved in the proliferation of cancer cells (1). A variable number of tandems repeat polymorphism in an E2F-1 binding element in the 5-prime flanking region of SMYD3 is a risk factor for human cancers (2). SMYD3 Protein is ideal for investigators involved in Signaling Proteins, Acetyl/Methyltransferase Proteins, Cancer, Cell Cycle, and Neurobiology research.
Application Note
SMYD3 Protein is stored in 50mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, 150mM NaCl, 10mM glutathione, 0.1mM EDTA, 0.25mM DTT, 0.1mM PMSF, 25% glycerol. SMYD3 Protein is suitable for use in Western Blot. Expect a band approximately ~71kDa on specific lysates or tissues. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user.
Purity/Specificity
Recombinant full-length human SMYD3 was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-Terminal Glutathione-S-Transferase fusion protein. The purity was determined to be >90% by densitometry.
