Piccolo Antibody was produced from whole rabbit serum prepared by repeated immunizations raised against full length protein.
Anti-Piccolo Antibody was purified by affinity chromatography. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with Piccolo from Human, Mouse, and Rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. No cross-reactivity to Bassoon. Cross-reactivity with Picollo from other sources has not been determined. Neuroscience research.

Anti-Piccolo Antibody is tested for use in WB and IHC. Expect a band approximately ~550kDa corresponding to the molecular weight of Piccolo. Multiple isoforms can be detected. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user.

Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4° C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Piccolo, also referred to as Aczonin, is a large protein which consists of an N-terminal Zn2+ finger, several piccolo-bassoon homology domains and C-terminal PDZ and C2 domains. In general it is found together with bassoon, a related huge multi-domain protein of the CAZ (cytoskeletal matric assembled at active zones). Piccolo is a scaffolding protein for proteins involved in endo- and exocytosis of synaptic vesicles. Piccolo has also been shown to interfere with clathrin medicated endocytosis by binding to the F-actin and dynamin binding protein Abp1.
