Caspase-12 Antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids near the amino terminus of mouse Caspase-12 protein.
Anti-Caspase-12 Antibody is directed against mouse Caspase-12 protein. The product was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography. The antibody is human, mouse and rat reactive. Reactivity against homologues from other sources has not been determined.

Anti-Caspase-12 Antibody has been tested for use in ELISA, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Murine spleen tissue lysate can be used as a positive control in western blotting, and a band at approximately 48 kDa is expected. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user.

Store vial at -20° C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4° C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Expiration date is one (1) year from date of receipt.
Three distinct signaling pathways lead to programmed cell death (apoptosis). The death receptor and mitochondrion pathways are the mains, in which the key apoptotic proteases capase-8 and caspase-9, respectively, are involved. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is the third apoptotic pathway and caspase-12 is involved. Caspase-12 is localized to the ER but not to cytoplasm or mitochondrion. Caspase-12 is activated by ER stress, including disruption of ER calcium homeostasis, and mediates ER stress-induced apoptosis. Caspase-12 is co-localized to the ER with several proteins that are involved in Alzheimer´s disease including gamma-secretase presenilin and beta-amyloid precursor protein (APP). Caspase-12 mediates cytotoxicity induced by amyloid-beta. Caspase-12 is ubiquitously expressed in mouse tissues. Anti-Caspase-12 antibody is ideal for investigators involved in Apoptosis research.
