Background

Normal Rat Serum (NRS) is the component of blood that does not contain erythrocytes or leukocytes nor clotting factors. All other non-clotting proteins remain in the serum making it a useful reagent for blocking of blots or wells. Normal Rat Serum is non-sterile and not ammenable to cell culture.

Target Details

Normal Rat Serum (NRS) was prepared from normal serum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation and selective precipitation.  Normal Rat Serum (NRS) was assayed by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a multiple precipitin arcs against anti-Rat Serum.

Application Details

Normal Rat Serum (NRS) is a useful reagent for blocking Western Blots and ELISA wells.

Store vial at 4° C prior to restoration.   For extended storage aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or below.  Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.  Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.  Normal Rat Serum (NRS) is stable for several weeks at 4° C as an undiluted liquid.  Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Expiration date is one (1) year from date of receipt.
