Renaissance Essential Tumor Medium™ is a cell line derivation and maintenance medium specifically formulated for the extended in vitro propagation of patient cancer cells derived from various tumor types. Media for deriving and maintain cell lines from primary tumors in patient samples. This media supports the in vitro derivation and growth of multiple cancer types including breast, lung, ovarian, and colon. Cells were grown in culture using RETM and were passaged in accordance with the Media QC SOP. Population Doubling values greater than 1 were obtained and population doubling rates in the final interval were not less than half the average initial population doubling rate. Target Details

Purity/Specificity: Found free of microbial contamination by direct culture: No growth: Pass. Mycoplasma: Negative: Pass. Growth characteristics enabled by media is in accordance with internal QC rates and values: Pass. To make RETM Complete Medium, combine the following: 500 mL RETM Basal Medium, 15 mL RETM Supplement. Recommended product: 125 μL cholera toxin, 1-5% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum, Pen-strep or other antibiotics as desired. When handling cholera toxin, or when performing cell culture using medium with cholera toxin, gloves, lab coat and eye protection should be worn. Any media spills should be cleaned immediately. Cell culture environments should be wiped down (70% ethanol and bleach) after completing work with either of these media.

Application Details

Application Note: Replace the medium when it becomes orange to orange-yellow to replenish nutrients and maintain pH. Varying levels of FBS (1%-10%) to further promote the growth and expansion of the cancer cells. Suitable for breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, and ovarian cancer. Useful for derivation, maintenance, and expansion of adherent and spherical cultures. This is a Rock-inhibitor free, feeder-free, and low-serum media.
